Lyda Chen-Argerich

Lyda Chen-Argerich is the Founder and Artistic Director of the ARCH Academy (Argerich/Chen) in China, which has created together with her mother, the celebrated pianist Martha Arherich. The ARCH Academy was launched in 2019 in China and is advancing with many multi disciplinary projects which are pending in Europe and Latin America. Born in Geneva, Lyda Chen-Argerich first studied the violin at the Geneva Music Conservatory with Ayla Erduran. She continued her studies with Professor Lin Yao Ji at the Beijing Central Conservatory of Music. After her return from China she pursued further studies in Law and Humanities at the Geneva University and obtained a Law Degree. Later she found many affinities with the viola instrument and its repertoire. Many musical encounters along with her mother Martha Argerich, opened her way to further experiences in music performing with many outstanding performers. Lyda Chen-Argerich has performed at the Verbier Festival, La Roque D’Antheron, Viviers, La Folles Journées de Nantes, Chambery, Salzburg Festspiele, Progetto Martha Argerich and the Martha Argerich Festival in Hamburg. As soloist she has appeared at the Zürich Tonhalle, the Teatro del Circulo and Teatro San Juan in Argentina.
